A strong advocate for practical sustainability in dentistry, he has led the group’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and was recognised with a UK Business Award for Sustainability in Dentistry in 2026.
About
Dr Jeffrey Sherer qualified as a dentist from Leeds University in 2000, before undertaking further training in dental implants and the provision of sedation. In 2004, he co founded The Dental Design Studio group of dental practices, which has since grown to 24 sites across the UK. Having seen first hand how much waste is created in dental practice, Jeffrey made a commitment to ensure the group’s practices became as sustainable as possible, helping to reduce the environmental impact of delivering dentistry. That commitment has led to practical changes across the group, including greater use of digital dentistry, waste reduction initiatives, greener practice environments and tree planting. In 2026, The Dental Design Studio was named winner of the UK Business Award for Sustainability in Dentistry and runner up in the SETHA Healthcare Business Awards. Jeffrey is passionate about making sustainability practical and achievable for dental practices, showing that meaningful environmental improvements do not always require major investment and can often support a stronger, better run dental business.
